Breathing therapy at the hives (api-inhalations, aeroapitherapy or hive therapy) is a complementary medicine method in which a person inhales air directly from a beehive or stays in a special apidomic.
What the air contains
- volatile fractions of honey, propolis, bee bread and wax;
- microdoses of bee venom and royal jelly;
- phytoncides and plant essential oils;
- a microclimate of about 35 °C (inside the apidomic) and a light beneficial vibration from the bee colony’s activity.
How the session works
- Inhalations: the patient breathes air from the hive through a special tube or mask (inhale through the mouth, exhale through the nose so as not to disturb the hive microclimate). A session usually lasts about 15 minutes a day.
Indications and expected effect
- respiratory conditions (bronchitis, recovery after pneumonia, bronchial asthma, ENT issues);
- functional nervous-system disorders, chronic fatigue, asthenia, migraines;
- general immune support and body toning.
Contraindications and risks
- allergy to bee products (honey, propolis, pollen, bee venom) or polyvalent allergy;
- general contraindications to physiotherapy procedures;
- Important: this method is complementary/supportive and does not replace proper medical treatment for acute or severe conditions.
