Yucca is a majestic perennial that can turn any front garden or flower bed into an exotic oasis. With its strong, pointed evergreen leaves and giant panicles covered in dozens of large creamy-white bells, it looks striking and luxurious. This landscape aristocrat blooms in midsummer, drawing the eye as the garden’s main accent, while remaining undemanding, drought-tolerant and able to cope with changeable weather.

For beekeepers, yucca is especially valuable as a strong and steady summer honey plant that attracts bees after many spring flowers have finished. Its large cup-shaped blossoms yield plenty of sweet nectar and nutritious pollen, giving colonies a reliable supporting flow. Besides its ornamental and nectar qualities, yucca has a powerful root system that protects soil from erosion, and its tough leaves and rhizomes have long been valued in folk medicine and for strong natural fibres.
